What are Program Categories?
Program Categories provide a secondary way to classify your programs, often describing the specific focus or delivery method.
System Program Categories
Argenta includes these default categories:
- Special Education: Programs for individuals with learning differences
- Tutorial Programs: One-on-one or small group tutoring
- Literacy: Reading and writing instruction
- Support Groups: Peer-led or facilitated group sessions
- Job Search & Placement: Employment assistance services
- Case Management: Individualized client support
- Mentoring: Mentor-mentee relationship programs
Using Types and Categories Together
Program Types and Categories work together to give you flexible classification:
- Example 1: Type = Youth & Family Services + Category = Mentoring
- Example 2: Type = Education/Instruction + Category = Literacy
- Example 3: Type = Employment + Category = Job Search & Placement
Custom Categories
Your organization can create custom categories to match your specific program structure. This is managed through the Classification Codes area.

The orange plus next to Program Category adds one without leaving the record.

Classification Codes in the left menu holds the full list.
