What is the difference between Auction Types and Item Types?

Argenta uses two separate labels for auctions, and they do different jobs.

Auction Types

An Auction Type describes the auction event itself, set at the auction level. Examples: Silent Auction, Live Auction, Online Auction, Hybrid Auction.

Item Types

An Item Type describes an individual item, set at the item level. Examples: Experience, Gift Certificate, Physical Item, Service, Vacation Package.

How they work together

A single auction, say your Annual Gala Silent Auction, can hold many items of different types: experiences, gift cards, artwork, and more.

Item Categories

You can also use Item Categories for finer organization, like Sports Memorabilia, Dining Experiences, Art and Collectibles, or Travel Packages.

Making them your own

Auction Types, Item Types, and Categories are all classification codes, so you can customize them to fit your organization.
