What is the difference between Grants Receivable and Grants Payable?
Argenta tracks grants in two directions depending on whether your organization is receiving or giving grant funds.
Grants Receivable
Grants your organization receives from funders:
- Foundation grants
- Government grants
- Corporate grants
- Money coming INTO your organization
Access via: Grant Management > Grants Receivable
Grants Payable (Grants Out)
Grants your organization gives to others:
- Scholarships you award
- Community grants you distribute
- Pass-through grants
- Money going OUT of your organization
Access via: Grant Management > Grants Payable
Key Differences
- Receivable: You track grantors (who gives you money) and applications you submit
- Payable: You track grant applicants (who requests money from you) and applications you receive
Which Do I Need?
- Most nonprofits use Grants Receivable to track funding they seek
- Foundations and grantmaking organizations use Grants Payable to manage giving
- Some organizations use both
