Why is a constituent engagement score lower than expected

If a constituent's engagement score seems lower than expected, here are the common reasons:

Time Period Filter:

  • The report only counts activity within the selected time period
  • A major donor from 2 years ago will show low Giving Score if you selected Last 12 Months
  • Try expanding the time period to see historical engagement

Data Entry Issues:

  • Volunteer hours may not have been logged in the system
  • Event attendance may not have been marked
  • Membership visits may not have been recorded
  • Verify the underlying data is being entered consistently

Email Tracking:

  • Email opens and clicks are only tracked for emails sent through Argenta
  • External email systems will not contribute to Email Score
  • Some email clients block tracking pixels, affecting open rates

Dimension Weights:

  • Giving is weighted highest at 25%
  • A volunteer with no donations will have a lower overall score
  • This is intentional to prioritize financial sustainability

Inactive Status:

  • Active volunteer/member status contributes significant points
  • If someone is marked inactive, they lose those points even with historical activity
